Description
As Executive Board Member and Student Activity Chair of the IEEE NT Subsection at CDU, I organised and led the first post-pandemic IEEE NT Subsection BBQ-Social Event. The event was a major success in revitalising the local IEEE community and fostering academic-industry-student engagement in the Northern Territory.Key highlights included:
Attendance of over 50 participants, including 30 STEM students, 10 CDU academics from Linguistics, Education, Computer Science, and Engineering, notably the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty, three STEM professors, five lecturers, four student volunteers, and three professional staff members.
Secured sponsorship from IEEE Northern Australia to offer free IEEE student memberships to all student attendees, boosting professional development and network integration.
Managed full event logistics—venue booking, catering, registration, stakeholder coordination, and scheduling—ensuring a seamless and engaging experience.
Promoted active networking and collaboration opportunities between students, academics, and industry professionals across STEM fields.
This event marked a significant step in reinvigorating post-COVID community ties within the IEEE NT Subsection and provided a platform for future interdisciplinary collaborations and student-led innovation initiatives.
