Research interests

Alexander was born an Australian, overseas in the Netherlands and moved to Perth in 1958. Alex is currently studying at Charles Darwin University in the College of Indigenous Futures and Society and Arts. Alex completed a Masters in Educational Management at the University of Western Australia and a Master's of International Relations by coursework and dissertation at the University of Western Australia in 2019, and developed a research interest in Indonesian developmental studies and Indonesian languages. Alex has worked as a sessional lecturer at Edith Cowan University. He has studied Bahasa Indonesia at both the University of Western Australia and Charles Darwin University. He continues to learn about Indonesia's language, customs, history, political economy and developmental issues. Alex is concerned about the impacts of COVID-19 on farmers in Indonesia and aims to contribute new knowledge regarding improved farm and health practices during crises. In the future, Alex hopes to complete further research concerning Indonesia and Indonesia's neighbours relevant to development studies and crisis studies.
