Research interests

Dr Ali Rkein is a lecturer in accounting in the Faculty of Arts and Society at Charles Darwin University. Dr Rkein has over 20 years of teaching experience in accounting across various universities in Australia and overseas. He has rich experience in teaching across various areas of accounting (Financial accounting; Cost and management accounting; Corporate accounting; Auditing). Currently, Dr. Rkein is the coordinator for postgraduate accounting courses at CDU (Graduate certificate in accounting studies; Graduate diploma of accounting studies; Master of accounting). And he also sits on the teaching and learning committee for the Faculty. Dr Rkein holds bachelor’s degree and master’s degree qualifications in accounting and finance from Australia and the US. He has also been a member of several accounting professional bodies including CPA Australia and CAANZ. He also served as a councillor for the CPA Divisional Council in the Northern Territory over a number of years.

In addition to his role in teaching, Dr. Rkein maintain strong interest in accounting research especially in the areas of public sector accounting, sustainability reporting, auditing, accounting education, and accounting for indigenous societies. He has participated in several international conferences and published in high ranked peer reviewed journals. Also, Dr Rkein continues to support research by supervising research students and reviewing research proposals and journal articles. Currently, Dr Rkein sits on the supervisory panels for two PhD students. Dr Rkein welcomes anyone to get in touch to discuss further research study or research collaborations.
