Allyson is a PhD candidate in the Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods (RIEL) within the Faculty of Science and
Technology under the primary supervision of Dr. Alan Andersen. Allyson grew up in the Northern Territory and holds a Bachelor of Science
(Biomedical Science) and Master of Environmental Management from Charles Darwin University. Her current PhD research is on assessing
genomics approaches, such as environmental DNA and metabarcoding, for monitoring terrestrial invertebrates as bioindicators of
ecosystem restoration. It focuses on the rehabilitation of one of the world’s largest uranium mines, located adjacent to World Heritagelisted
Kakadu National Park. Allyson is co-supervised by Dr. Sam Banks & Dr. Maxine Piggott in close collaboration with the Office of the
Supervising Scientist (Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water).
