Research interests

Andrew Pollard is a Senior Lecturer English Language and Linguistics and Course Coordinator of the Master of Applied Linguistics.

Andrew researches in applied linguistics and language education with a focus on ASEAN+3 contexts. His primary research interests are located in global Englishes and English as a lingua franca, keenly connected with pedagogy, teacher training, and language policy. The current research projects he is undertaking look at prosodic and paralinguistic features of English varieties and how they interact with comprehensibility, and the role of oral corrective feedback in the preliminary year of EMI institutions. 

Andrew's teaching spans areas of applied linguistics and education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Within these areas he coordinates and teaches into global Englishes, language teaching methodolodies, language testing, intercultural communication, and curriculum design.
