Personal profile

Research interests

I am a researcher in applied linguistics and language education who focuses on ASEAN+3 contexts, with particular emphasis on Chinese and Korean contexts.

I invite enquiries from potential HDR students with interests in areas intersecting my research and teaching within applied linguistics, language education, and language policy.

My primary research interests are located in global Englishes and English as a lingua franca. The current research projects I am undertaking look at prosodic and paralinguistic features of English varieties and how they affect comprehensibility, and the role of oral corrective feedback in the preliminary year of EMI institutions. Much of the research I undertake across NE Asia interconnects with language and education policy across the region.

I am a facilitator of the Applied Linguistics SIG, and teach across the areas of applied linguistics, language pedagogy and academic literacies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Within the TESOL stream in the Master of Education I coordinate and teach into language teaching methodolodies, language testing, and intercultural communication.
