Research interests
Avalon is a first year PhD student at CDU studying under the supervisor of Maxine Piggott, Mike Hodda (CSIRO) and Daniel Huston (CSIRO).
She will be studying the virulence of root-knot nematodes, globally distributed plant parasites which may overcome host plant resistance
genes. Prior to attending CDU, she obtained a BSc (Hons) from Monash University with a major in Ecology and Zoology. More recently, she
obtained an MBinf from The University of Queensland. She has an interest in using bioinformatic tools for conservation and biosecurity
purposes.
