Research interests

Dr Birut Zemits is the Assistant Dean Research in the College of Education. She has extensive experience lecturing in subjects related to language, art, film, academic writing and cultural issues. She teaches mainly in the area of Academic Language and Learning. Birut completed a PhD titled Ethno-eco dialogue: Filmmaking for sustainability, which provided an opportunity to bring together interests in creative practice, sociolinguistics and environmental education and she continues to maintain an interest in bringing these fields together. Her passion is for research as well as supporting the learning process at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. When not working, she enjoys filmmaking, painting, walking and gardening.
