Research interests

Dr. Talagala's research interests include Intellectual Property, Public, Commercial, and Civil Law.  

Dr. Talagala obtained his Ph.D. from Griffith Law School, Australia, with First Grade Academic Excellence. The thesis was awarded without alteration, and in recognition of this outstanding achievement, his name appeared in the Academic Excellence Listing and was considered in the selection for the Chancellor's Medals.  He holds a Master of Laws with Honours, a Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights Law with Honours, and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. He was placed First in Order of Merit at all his Postgraduate examinations. He was also the Gold Medalist and the First in Order of Merit at the Attorneys-at-Law Examinations. Dr. Talagala also holds an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Talagala is an Attorney-at-Law (Counsel) of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. Formerly, Dr. Talagala was a Member of the Australian Center for Intellectual Property in Agriculture. He was also a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in Sri Lanka and a Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Education in Sri Lanka. He is a Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scholar and a Griffith University International Postgraduate Research Scholar. He has authored many national and international research publications, including two books by Routledge and Springer Nature.
