Research interests

Dean Mobbs. Artist. Writer. Teacher. Dean is a practicing artist and writer based in Bathurst NSW. A former chef and a former schoolteacher, he operates a working art gallery on Keppel St in Bathurst, where he exhibits his original artworks. He holds not only a teaching degree in Primary Education with Honours from Charles Sturt University, but also a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Arts and a Masters of Philosophy in Creative Writing from The University of Newcastle. Dean has written and published two novels. The Expressionist (2015) and Dancing on a Pin (2017). His first novel TheExpressionist was awarded a Silver Medal for Best Regional Fiction in the Independent Publishers Book Awards for 2016. Dean has a passionate desire to create art, to do research, and to share a sense of hope for the productive betterment of society. As a mentor at his gallery, Dean Mobbs has developed a close link to schools, to businesses, to charities, and to sporting clubs within the region. Dean Mobbs Gallery also provides a variety of scholarships in support of students across the regional community of New South Wales.
