Dr Katya (Ekaterina) Pechenkina is Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology’s Learning Transformations Unit as well as an honorary University Fellow with Charles Deakin University. In her current role she is responsible for a range of strategic teaching and learning initiatives in the fields of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, impact and evaluation of teaching, as well as online learning and professional development for academic teaching staff. She has designed and conducted institution-based, national, international and interdisciplinary research projects involving higher education lecturers and students, international and Indigenous learners, as well as with schools and various marginalised communities. Her research has been published and presented widely, including in high-ranking journals and at international conferences. Her methodological expertise comprises qualitative and qualitative as well as mixed approaches. Katya is an award-winning lecturer in Swinburne’s Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (Higher Education) and currently convenes three units of study, their scope comprising scholarly teaching, evaluation of impact, online learning and communication, and inclusive learning and teaching practices. Katya is an Associate Editor with the Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education, and regularly serves as a peer reviewer of academic research across various higher education and educational technology journals, books and monographs. Further, as an assessor for Australian Awards for University Teaching and an evaluator of faculty awards, she contributes to the advancement of teaching excellence.
