Research interests
Dr Emily Gilbert (she/her) is a research-focused academic, currently living in Darwin on the lands of the Larrakia people. Emily is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of populations and advocating for health care equity and access for marginalised groups. Emily has years of experience teaching in undergraduate biomedical and health sciences in Australian University settings, as well as experience in curriculum development, unit delivery and course coordination to diverse student cohorts. Emily has research experience in the areas of primary healthcare, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and reproductive health, and demonstrated experience in both quantitative and qualitative health research, including in participatory research, focus groups and in-depth interviews, and working with large datasets. Key areas of research interest include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, preconception health, infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome and supporting co-design approaches to developing health education programmes and resources. Emily has a strong track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Emily is also a qualified embryologist.
