Research interests

Farida Habib Semantha is a PhD researcher in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Charles Darwin University. She has a wide array of research interests around privacy by design, cyber security, cybercrime, digital forensics, and ICT governance. Before joining CDU as a researcher, she worked as an IT professional with Northern Territory Government, Australia managing many significant government projects. She also researches privacy by design for machine learning and artificial intelligence projects that ensure privacy is built into the design of organisation’s systems from the outset and data is protected throughout the development and implementation process. This way, organisations can mitigate privacy risks, increase transparency and scalability, and build user trust. Farida’s imminent interest is to improve community security awareness and the capability of the ICT industry. She is passionate about women in leadership and women in information security, science and technology and encourages them to take up careers in the ICT industry.
