Research interests
Getahun joined REIL at CDU as a PhD student, supervised by Associate Professor Kamaljit Sangha, Professor Brett Murphy, and Adjunct
Professor Muhammad Sohail. Before joining CDU, Getahun was an academic staff member at Hawassa University, Ethiopia. Getahun holds
an MSc in Natural Resource Economics and Policy from Hawassa University in 2012. Getahun has served as an academician and researcher
for over ten years. He has worked with various stakeholders, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and consultants as a
socioeconomic researcher, trainer, and technical advisor. He has a well-rounded skill set in regression analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and
market and non-market-based valuation techniques.
