Research interests
Harry MacDermott is currently a PhD candidate the through the Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods (RIEL) under the supervision of Associate Professors’ Brett Murphy (CDU) and Rod Fensham (UQ). Harry’s research is focused on further understanding the vegetation and fire ecology of North Australian sandstone heaths in order to inform their management. Prior to commencing his PhD, Harry worked as a research assistant in plant ecology laboratories at the University of Queensland and the University of Tasmania and, most recently, as an Indigenous Protected Area coordinator operating out of Borroloola. Harry currently works casually as a field ecologist for the Darwin Centre for Bushfire Research at CDU.
