Research interests
Jaimie resides in Canberra with her partner and three small children. Jaimie holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) and a Master of Social Work. It was during her postgraduate studies that Jaimie developed an interest in qualitative research, aligning with her commitment to critical social work, social justice, and advocacy. Jaimie has actively engaged with her profession and community and has served as a branch member on the Australian Association of Social Work ACT Branch. Jaimie is a co-facilitator of the newly established AASW Research and Social Work Practice Group with a commitment to fostering a community of learning. Outside of academia, Jaimie volunteers as a youth mental health mentor, providing guidance and support to young individuals navigating the complexities of mental health challenges. As a PhD candidate, Jaimie remains steadfast in her commitment to social justice and inclusivity. Using participatory methods, her research is aimed at enhancing the understanding of mental health access for people with hearing loss, with the hope that this will lead to more inclusive and effective mental health services.
