Kate is a public policy researcher who works in international migration. She studies demographic and economic impacts of immigration policy with a focus on regional areas and smaller communities. She has published on immigrant mobility motivations in northern regions, immigrant workforce participation (e.g. in health and early childhood education), comparative immigration regimes with a focus on Australia and Canada, and international education. She is currently researching gendered aspects of immigrant entrepreneurship and gambling in multicultural communities in the NT. At CDU, Kate taught sociology, CUC107 (one of the common Units) and is now teaching research methods and units in the Masters of Public Policy. She coordinates the BA Honours Program at the College, is a member of the Research and Research Training Committee at the College as well as of the CDU Human Research Ethics Committee. She welcomes enquiries from potential post-graduate students interested in international migration.
