Kate Fulton is an HDR student working towards a PhD that investigates the effects of social media use on legal perceptions. Kate studied a
Bachelor of Laws at The University of South Australia, graduating with honours in 2022. Her honours thesis examined the potential impacts
of video-conferenced court hearings during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on jurisprudence and procedural fairness. After moving
to Darwin so she and her son could be close to family, Kate began a Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Charles Darwin University.
However, she ultimately decided to pursue a PhD instead, with the view of becoming a lecturer and legal academic. Kate’s primary
research interests include cultural legal studies, socio-legal studies, jurisprudence, and legal literacy.
