Research interests

Dr. Kate Saxton is passionate about social and ecological justice issues that affect us at both the local and global level.  Kate has worked extensively in both research and direct practice with community groups across Australia and the Asia Pacific.  Kate has strong grounding in decolonising and critical research methodologies and is familiar with a range of qualititative methods including Participatory and Emancipatory Action Research, Auto-ethnography, Critical Reflection, Memory Work, Talanoa, focus groups, drama work, discourse analysis and in-depth interviews.  Kate has a commitment to research that facilitates meaningful social change and strives to work alongside research partners and students, rather than a more traditional top down approach.

Her research interests include:

Critical Social Work, Ecological Justice (Green social work), Pacific Communities, Decolonisation, and Community Development
