Born and raised in the Northern Territory, Majella is a dedicated educator and student. Completing both her undergraduate and
postgraduate studies as Charles Darwin University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education (Global
Learning). Majella has a breadth of experience working in education across the NT in early learning, primary school, middle school and
senior school within mainstream and alternative school systems. Having been born in a Pitjantjtara community, grown up in Alice Springs
with the local Arrernte people and having formative experiences working with Luritja people in Central Australia, the influence of
Indigenous knowledge systems is embedded in Majella's approach to teaching and learning. Her Master's thesis focused on the use of
Conceptual Metaphor Theory as a tool for teacher self-reflection in an exploration of Arrernte ways of knowing and learning, providing the
basis for her further research pursuits in this field. Majella is a mother to two young sons and currently works as a lecturer at CDU in
Darwin.
