Mamoun Bani Amer is a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at Charles Darwin University, Australia. His research focuses on lexical
metaphors in digital discourse, particularly in the context of Australia’s 2023 Indigenous Voice referendum. His academic journey includes
a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, Yarmouk University, and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University
of Technology Sydney (UTS).
Mamoun has extensive teaching experience, he is currently working as a Trainer & Assessor at Alana Kaye College in Darwin (ELICOS Tutor)
and taught English Language at Direct English institutions in Saudi Arabia. His research contributions span corpus linguistics, discourse
analysis, and metaphor studies, with multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
His expertise includes speech acts, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Appraisal Theory, and Affiliation Theory, which he applies to the study
of online discourse and ideological framing. Passionate about language, identity, and digital communication, he aims to contribute to the
field of linguistics through research, teaching, and scholarly engagement.
