Research interests

Dr Maneka Jayasinghe is currently the Head of Business and Accounting and Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Faculty of Arts and Society. Her teaching areas include Economics, Business Statistics and Quantitative Methods.

She is an Applied Economist and her research interests include Feminist Economics, Consumer Demand Analysis, Poverty and Wellbeing, Energy Economics and Tourism Analysis. (Link to Google Scholar)

She holds a PhD in Economics (Griffith University, Australia), Masters in Public Policy (National University of Singapore, Singapore) and Economics Honours (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka). 

She was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University, UK in November 2023.
