Research interests
Michael is a PhD student and program manager with the Ramaciotti Regional and Remote Health Sciences Training Centre (Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre), based at Menzies School of Health Research in the Northern Territory (NT), Australia. The Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre aims to build a local and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce in the NT. Michael completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Secondary Education in 2016 and a Master of Human Rights in 2019. Michael worked for the National Centre for Cultural Competence at the University of Sydney for several years before undertaking a role in grants and policy with the Tiwi Islands Regional Council based in Wurrumiyanga, NT. Michael has worked for the Centre for Big Data Research in Health at the University of New South Wales and Menzies School of Health Research in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led programs. Michael is a non-Indigenous person. Michael brings together his experience as a teacher, education designer, grants and policy officer and program manager as well as a complex systems approach to try to address education inequities in regional and remote NT. In his current role, Michael takes an interdisciplinary approach to supporting youth into training, study, and careers in a variety of areas in health and the arts.
