Research interests

I was a farmer for over 40 years. I owned and managed a family farm at Wellington in NSW. We ran Merino sheep, stud Shorthorn and
Shorthorn Cross cattle, bred Australian Stock Horses and grew wheat, oats and occasionally canola. I was actively involved in the
Wellington Branch of the National Party. I was Branch Chairman for about 20 years and I was elected as Treasurer of Parkes Electorate
Council and as a committee member of Calare Electorate Council and Dubbo and Orange Electorate Councils. I also served on a number of
rural committees including the Spiny Burr Grass eradication committee and was a member of the NSW Farmers Association. In recent
years I and Martin Sannikka (a retired noise expert) were able to stop the building of the $1bn Wellington Gas Fired Power Station which
was to be located within 700m of my historic home.
