Personal profile
Research interests
This is my first formal teaching appointment in university after 25 years of clinical practice in pre-hospital medicine. Commencing my career in the UK National Health Service, I have worked internationally in conflict, post-conflict, and developing world environments and have spent much time in remote and austere settings. I continue in practice in Australia as an intensive care paramedic in rescue helicopter and ambulance rapid-response vehicle roles predominantly within the NT.
My areas of interest are within specialist arenas of pre-hospital care and include aeromedical, tactical, and remotely deployed operations. I have a strong interest in psychology related to good and bad decision-making and clinical performance in high-demand/high-stress settings. This drives my focus on adapting learning strategies to accommodate student medics and active personnel in becoming better prepared, more resilient, and higher functioning clinicians.
