Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and clinical researcher. PhD and master's degree in medical sciences from the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil. She graduated from Medicine from the Federal University of Ceara, followed by advanced training in Internal Medicine, from Cesar Cals General Hospital, and advanced training in Nephrology from Federal University of Ceara. Specialist in Nephrology by the Brazilian Society of Nephrology. She contributed as an affiliate researcher in the Australian Translational Program in Clinical Toxicology (TACT), University of Sydney, Australia, funded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education (CAPES) through the Sandwich Doctorate Abroad program. She worked as clinical and nephrology specialist at the Instituto Dr. Jose Frota hospital, and as coordinator of the Toxicological Information and Assistance Center in the same hospital. Professor in Faculty of Medicine at the University of Fortaleza prior to taking up her current position in CDU. She contributes with Brazilian Ministry of Health as collaborator in training and workshops about the management of the victims of venomous animals, including Amazon region and inhospitable areas. She worked during COVID-19 pandemic in a task force team attending patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection, focused on renal supportive care in Northeast Brazil. She has experience in Emergency Medicine, Nephrology, Tropical diseases and Clinical Toxicology, where she develops research in non-traditional biomarkers for acute kidney injury.  Wide experience in acute kidney injury and toxic agents (mainly associated to tropical diseases and animal toxins).
