Research interests
Porni (she/her) joined RIEL at CDU as a PhD Candidate in February 2024, supervised by
Dr Kaline De Mello, Dr Dylan Irvine, and Dr Erica Garcia. Porni completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science,
majoring in Geography and Environment, at Jagannath University, Bangladesh. After moving to Australia in 2018, she completed her
Master of Science and Management, majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences, and recently completed a Master of Philosophy with a
thesis titled "Mangrove Extent Dynamics in Northern Australia" at the University of Wollongong (UOW). Porni has almost five years of
industry and academic experience in Australia and Bangladesh, having worked in environmental and ecological companies and as a casual
academic at CDU and UOW. Her research interests include remote sensing and GIS, ecology, hydrology, geomorphology and geoscience.
