Research interests

My area of major interest is on human-environmental interactions. Along with professional education and research, I have spent about 17 years in practical work experience on small scale bio-diverse agriculture in stressed ecosystems of India. Developed specialization in community based conservation of natural resources and adaptation to multiple stressors in agricultural; co-production of adaptive knowledge for sustaining social-ecological systems and biocultural approaches of sustainable development. Collaborated with 16 local and subsistence communities of India to pursue research and development of policy and technologies in area of interests. Created a network on area of interest with several institutions: University of Reading, UK; University of Charles Darwin University, NT, Australia; UNNESCO (Complex system of human-environment); University of Victoria, Canada; University of Utrecht Netherlands; Centre for International Research and Advisory Network (CIRAN), The Netherlands; and few NGOs at national and International levels. Received several fellowships and award: Chevening-Commonwealth Post-Doc Fellowship (2019) to work on autonomous adaptation in environmental management at University of Oxford and University of Reading, UK; Endeavour Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015) at CDU, Australia; Fulbright Fellow (environmental leadership) at University of Michigan, MIS, USA (2011); Fellow (community based biodiversity conservation), Linnean Society of London (2010); Lansdowne Distinguished Professor (community based conservation and adaptations), University of Victoria, Canada (2010); and Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi (2019).
