Research interests
Ruth Outridge (she/her) is a Higher Degree Research student at the Menzies School of Health Research. She joined Menzies in early 2023
as a Research Nurse with the Child and Maternal Health Division. With over a decade of clinical nursing experience, Ruth’s career has
followed a diverse trajectory—from working with the heart and lung transplant team at St Vincent’s Hospital, to serving aboard a hospital
ship in Madagascar and Benin, to providing sexual health outreach in East Arnhem Land. In 2020, Ruth relocated to Garramilla (Darwin)
and began working in the Emergency Department at Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals. Witnessing the high prevalence of
domestic and family violence presentations in the emergency setting inspired Ruth to focus her career on the prevention of and response
to violence against women.
