Research interests

Dr Sandra Thibodeaux is a Lecturer in Social Science at CDU, as well as an award-winning playwright and poet. Over a 10-year academic career, Sandra has lectured in subjects related to literature, communications, creative writing and cultural capabilities. As a playwright, Sandra has written 19 plays that have been staged between Singapore and Melbourne, with tours across state and national borders. She has won the NT Literary Awards three times, and has been shortlisted for the Griffin, Patrick White and Green Room awards. With an interest in political and historical material, her published works include Mr Takahashi (and other falling secrets) and The Age of Bones. She has also published four collections of poetry, and in 2011, was Australian Poetry’s national Poet-in-Residence. Sandra is currently developing Genius, a Dark Comedy inspired by painter and feminist icon Artemisia Gentileschi. For this work, she received a BR Whiting Residency in Rome, enjoyed in 2022.
