Research interests
Sarah is a Research Fellow at the Molly Wardaguga Research Institute for First Nations Birth Rights. Her research is embedded within the 'To Be Born Upon a Pandanus Mat - Yothuw gayatha dhäwal guyaŋa' nharaw' project. Sarah is collaborating with Yolŋu co-researchers using a PAR approach in evaluating the Djäkamirr supported service delivery for First Nations communities in Galiwin'ku, Darwin and Nhulunbuy.
Sarah is a midwife, Master of Public Health, and received her PhD from The University of Melbourne and she continues to pursue her interests in women’s maternal health equity.
Sarah’s PhD thesis and research focus area had been in exploring how community-based volunteer doula programs may improve migrant women’s maternity care experiences by bridging the gap in culturally-responsive care and factors which may impact the implementation and sustainability of these doula services in maternity settings.
