Simon is an Associate Professor (Pharmacy) in the College of Health and Human Sciences, specialising in teaching and research in the field of pharmaceutics (the science of administering drugs into the body). His research interests are broad and include bio/mucoadhesion, rheology, surface science, release kinetics and the design of novel formulations - both in collaboration with local hospitals and the pharmaceutical and food industries. Simon holds a PhD in pharmaceutics from the University of Portsmouth (UK) and has taught in all areas of pharmacy across multiple institutions in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a registered pharmacist in Australia - having previously been registered as a pharmacist in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
