Research interests

Dr. Thuy Dinh is a Language and Learning Advisor in the Language and Learning Support Team based in the Library at Charles Darwin University. Thuy Dinh obtained her PhD in Applied Linguistics from Monash University and received the Monash Publication Award for her thesis entitled “Culture representations in the English language curricula in Vietnam”. 

Thuy has extensive experience in lecturing, researching and providing language and learning skills support for students of different levels and cultural backgrounds both in Australia and overseas. Her publications have focused on how cultures and cultural conceptualisations are represented in ELT materials and how different cultural conceptualisations are entrenched in lexical innovations, local varieties of English and local languages.  

Her areas of interest include intercultural communication, curriculum/ textbook analysis, resource development, English as an International Language (EIL), World Englishes, Cultural Linguistics, academic skills and language education.
