Research interests

Tom is a demographer in the Northern Institute specialising in applied demography. He is interested in population projections, household projections, indirect estimation, migration analysis, very elderly populations, Indigenous populations, educational demography, local and regional population trends, and creating demographic software. Tom holds degrees in human geography and demography and won the 2017 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional Performance in Research. He is published in Population Research & Policy Review, Population Studies, PLOS ONE, Applied Spatial Analysis & Policy, Demographic Research, Applied Geography, Population, Space & Place, and Geographical Analysis.
