Personal profile

Research interests

I joined RIEL as a Technical Officer in January 2024 and began my PhD journey with RINA in February 2024. My supervisory team includes
Dr Chengyuan Stephen Xu (principal supervisor) and associate supervisors Dr Yujuan Li, Dr Kamaljit Sangha, and Dr Edward Mwando.
With a deep-rooted interest in agriculture, I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agriculture, specialising in Food Science and
Technology, from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Further, completed a degree in Accounting and Marketing from
Sydney. Before beginning my PhD adventure, I gathered multidisciplinary expertise in several fields and worked in numerous sectors that
were either directly or indirectly related to agriculture and food science. My desire to learn more led me to begin my PhD journey.
Sustainable agriculture farming and ecological resource use, encompassing nutrition, economical production, and effective marketing
strategies, are among my interests. I am particularly passionate about this research project because of its significant potential to advance
mushroom production in Northern Australia and promote a sustainable future through responsible ecological resource management and
crop waste utilisation. It will generate socio-economic and environmental benefits.
