2020 Rainmaker Readiness - The economic and social implications of the increasing heat in the tropical North: How can we cope better?

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This project integrates the disciplines of health economics, human geography, and psychology to explore which sectors and people are most vulnerable to increasing heat—and how this change might affect the economy and wellbeing in the Top End. Specifically, we will first conduct interviews, focus groups, and workshops in the region to clarify the potential effects of increasing heat and the circumstances or practices that magnify or minimize these effects. We will then distribute an online survey, around Australia, to ascertain the effects of increasing heat on attitudes and travelling to the Top End as well as the characteristics that influence these effects.
