2022 IAS Rainmaker Start -up: Viability of carbon capture in the NT

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The proposed project perfectly aligns with the aims and selection criteria of both funding opportunities, as it is described below.
Opportunity 1: ARC’s Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP2023) supports collaborative research projects between universities and organizations outside the Australian higher education sector that involve using new technologies. ITRP2023 prioritizes industrial transformation in areas including oil and gas. This project resonates with the efforts of industries such as Santos and INPEX which are investing up to $200 million for developing CCS processes.
Opportunity 2: The Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystem Fund by the Australian Government supports advanced manufacturing in the Northern Territory through research activities such as carbon capture, sequestration, and storage.
Both funding opportunities require the support of an industrial partner. Efforts will be made with the help of the Energy and Resources Institute to establish a linkage with the industry in the Northern Territory that can support the submission.
