Boom and Bust in the Tanami Desert

What are the effects of environmental unpredictability on desert birds?The questions to be addressed by this study are centred on the response of birds to unpredictable events, principally rainfall and fire, in an Australian desert environment, and the effect of artificial water points in ameliorating that unpredictability.The results of this study will be applied to the management of desert habitats for wildlife conservation, and are especially relevant in a time of rapid climate change.
