Building resilience in Australia's threatened turtle populations

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project will investigate impacts and risks from climate change on three listed marine turtle stocks in the Northern Territory and Queensland. Project activities include: • using oceanographic, relative turtle nesting density, sand spectral properties and digital elevation data, to determine relative risk from climate change and priority conservation areas; • infer hatchling sex ratios based on temperature data; • determine hatching success of the three nesting stocks over two seasons by conducting nest excavations; and • conduct a knowledge sharing workshop with Aboriginal partner groups and co-design mitigation measures.
