Project Details
Description
The objective of this research project is to use the Tiwi Islands as a case study for assessing the technical and economic feasibility of using biomass as a fuel source, along with solar power, in remote Indigenous communities across northern Australia. If bioenergy is a viable renewable fuel source that can be produced onsite in remote communities, this would lead to greater energy independence, self-reliant communities with significantly lower costs of power production than conventional fuels, and a stronger local economy.
