Fine-scale habitat mapping for a subset of Kakadu National Park

Project: Research

Project Details

The project consists of producing a fine-scale habitat map for a section located in the north-east of KNP using Sentinel 2 imagery, and validated with sampled waypoints. Habitat classes to be mapped include, but are not limited to, water, mud flats, mangroves, sandstone woodland, sandstone shrubland, eucalypt woodland on sand, eucalypt woodland on volcanic, open woodland on sand, open woodland on volcanic, open forest, closed forest, and riparian areas. The habitat map will provide a baseline to inform decision making on fire management practices for biodiversity conservation outcomes.
