Description
The increasing environmental and human health concerns associated with PFAS have raised the need to develop new alternatives for fire suppression, i.e., fluorine-free firefighting (FfreeF) foam formulations. In this project, we present a comprehensive approach for formulating new concentrates of FfreeF by having hydroxysultains as the primary component. The proposed study includes both
molecular-level understanding and neutron analysis to derive a complete picture and this knowledge is used to design and develop new key surfactants that are as effective as PFAS in fire suppression.
