Project Details
Description
This project is a continuing component of CDU’s ‘northern hub’ suite of projects collectively addressing ‘building capacity in north Australian remote communities’, building on their outcomes. It aims to support regional planning processes in remote locations by developing appropriate risk management tools (e.g. mapping and information resources), as a means for assisting with risk mitigation for Emergency Management (EM) agencies and local communities. The project will deliver targeted scenario planning, supported by appropriate mapping and information resources, to vulnerable communities in select locations across the north. The main benefits for CDU are:
•Promoting CDU profile for trans-disciplinary collaborative research in participation with remote communities across northern Australia
•Enhancing the capability of vulnerable north Australian communities to better plan for and address EM issues
•Developing new EM frameworks and models, promoting CDU in the EM sectors
•Promoting trans-disciplinary approach to EM issues
•Publications (journal articles and reports)
