Description
The Role of NDIS Service Providers in Supporting the Rehabilitation and Integration of Out-of-Prison Adults with Disabilities in the
Community
Abstract:
This research proposal aims to investigate the crucial role of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service providers in facilitating
the rehabilitation and successful community integration of adults with disabilities who have been incarcerated in the Northern Territory.
The study seeks to understand the challenges and barriers faced by this population and explore the strategies and support mechanisms
that NDIS service providers can employ to promote their successful reintegration into society. The study employs a qualitative
methodology, integrating Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and Community of Practice (CoP) theory, to provide a
comprehensive understanding of both individual and collective experiences within the NDIS service provision framework. Through indepth, semi-structured interviews and document analysis, this research aims to contribute to the enhancement of services and policies
that address the needs of this marginalised population.
