An adaptive ROI based UEP scheme for HEVC compressed video bitstreams

Abstract

This paper presents an unequal error protection (UEP) scheme for high efficiency video coding (HEVC) compressed video bitstreams based on region-of-interest (ROI). The concept of motion density (MD) is applied to identify important regions of the video frame. Simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme achieves better video quality, compared to conventional UEP approaches.
