Abstract
Prabowo and Gibran have won the 2024 presidential election. However, the new parliament will be divided between many different parties. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-Perjuangan) is the largest party, but their presidential candidate Ganjar lost with only 17% of the vote, compared to Prabowo on 58%. There are signs of voter maturity in Indonesia, with people voting for the president but for parliament they vote for a different party that is in opposition to their preference for president. This acts as a check and balance of the executive power of the president. It is likely that PDI-Perjuangan will remain in opposition in parliament, in a Westminster style manner.
