Abstract
Indonesia’s democracy has made significant strides since the end of the New Order, but challenges remain in terms of governance, accountability, and institutional effectiveness. To secure Indonesia’s future, it is crucial to advance democratic consolidation through reforms that strengthen government accountability and responsiveness. To answer this, I will explore how Indonesia can build on its democratic progress while addressing the challenges that hinder further consolidation and institutional reform. Briefly, I will also include perceptions from Australia on Indonesian democratisation.
