Abstract
We report on the theoretical study of carrier effects on the strength of exciton–exciton interactions in semiconductor quantum wells. Using the framework of fractional dimensional space, our work extends the existing theory to a new dimension, which describes in an improved way, realistic quantum systems like quantum wells. Analytical expressions which give a measure of the strength of exciton–exciton interaction are derived, and are used to show that, depending on the dimensionality of the excitonic system, the effect of charge carriers on the strength of exciton–exciton interaction is critically dependent on the momentum transferred between two interacting excitons.
