Abstract
A new coherence-free optical delay line signal processing structure based on an unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer containing an optical frequency shifter is presented. A coherence-free notch filter response is obtained by frequency shifting the delayed optical signal. Results demonstrate a significant improvement of the filter response stability and of the signal-to-noise ratio compared to the conventional delay line signal processor.
