    Abstract

The VRD and the Barkly region are two of the largest pastoral areas in the Northern Territory. They are steeped in history, the rich culture of the Aboriginal landowners, and the stories and challenges of the pioneers and stockmen who have come through the area. Both regions are immense in size and contribute enormously to the local economy as well featuring internationally through the cattle industry and the growing tourism market. The booklet is largely self explantory, with botanical terminology kept to a minimum and a focus placed on photographs to help identify the plants. The text covers key features to help with identification, including bark, leaves, flowers, fruit and the plant's growth form (shrub, tree or herb).
