Abstract

A novel coherence-free microwave photonic notch filter is presented. It is based on an off-loop-centre phase modulator Sagnac loop with an unbalanced Mach Zehnder interferometer at the loop output. Experimental results are presented, which demonstrate the filter tunability and show an equivalent negative-tap notch filter response with a wide passband.
